This past week, I had a wildly exciting (and *shhh* terrifying) — opportunity: I was invited to pitch my startup to investors.

Why so scary?

When you’re pitching to investors, you’re pretty much putting your closely held vision out into the world to be examined with a fine-tooth comb under a magnifying glass.

Understandably, anyone who’s going to put their hard-earned dollars behind little old you is going to have a LOT of questions.

Fortunately, I’ve pitched myself many, many times before in a sales context. However, this was the first time I’d pitched in this particular way.

But even though I was nervous, I was also on cloud 10. The only reason I was presenting was because we’d done well enough to make it past the pitch deck round into the Top 20!

So, I thought I’d share some of the things I learned in the process of preparing for this pitch.
